Learn about our passion for fostering and our values
At Family Fostering our principles of recognising each individual’s unique worth and enabling them to realise their potential are central to everything we do. This is inclusive to all the children and young people within the service, all our foster carers and staff members.
Our foster carers are skilled to make a life changing difference to young people placed in their care, essentially in the day to day care they provide within their homes where they consistently demonstrate to young person they are valued and provide them with the support they need to work through their difficulties, raise their self-esteem and provide them with the motivation and resources they need to realise their unique potential.
We strongly believe that ideally children and young people within the care system who are unable to return to their birth family should have the stability of long term foster placements as within these they are provided with the best opportunity to begin developing secure attachments vital to their emotional well-being.
To provide our fostering families with a secure base within which they are equipped and enabled to provide safe, nurturing and loving homes to young people unable to live with their birth families. Working holistically with a therapeutic ethos we will ensure that each child/young person is fully supported through their psychological recovery, enabled to build their resilience and realise their unique potential.
HEAD OF SERVICE
I’m a Director of Family Fostering with over 36 years of experience working with children and families, including 23 years specifically within fostering as a qualified social worker. I’ve managed various services and spent over 12 years as a registered manager within fostering and am now responsible for the development of our fostering service. I’ve also had the personal experience of being a foster parent, which provided me with valuable insight into the realities of foster parenting. Supporting foster parents in the complex and vital work they do is something I’m deeply passionate about.
SERVICE MANAGER
I’m a Director of Family Fostering as well as the Responsible Individual and ADM. I’m a qualified social worker with over 30 years of experience working with children and families, and I’ve spent the last 23 years focusing on fostering. My parents fostered when I was an adult living independently with my own children, so I saw first-hand the vital role that birth children play, and the impact fostering can have on the entire family. That experience gave me a deep understanding and lasting passion for making sure everyone in a fostering family feels fully supported.
PRACTICE MANAGER
I am a qualified social worker with a BA Hons degree in Social Work. I’ve been with Family Fostering for over 5 years, and I am now the Practice Manager. In addition to this role, I’m the Therapeutic Parenting Lead within the service and hold a diploma in therapeutic parenting. I’m fully committed to supporting foster parents, their birth children, and extended families, as I believe fostering is a whole family venture. My aim is to ensure that everyone involved in the fostering process is well-supported and understood.
SENIOR PRACTITIONER
I have been a qualified social worker since 2001. My career began in a children’s and family’s team for a local authority, where I spent my first 3 years. Since then, I’ve worked in fostering, holding roles as a supervising social worker, senior practitioner, and independent social worker. My practice is underpinned by a therapeutic approach, and I’m passionate about ensuring foster parents receive the right support so they can provide the best care for the children and young people in their care.
SOCIAL WORK ASSISTANT
I’m a reliable and self-motivated professional with a passion for making a real difference in young people’s lives. I build strong, trusted relationships by listening to each child’s unique voice and needs. With experience in outdoor and child-initiated learning, I focus on developing independence and self-esteem. I bring a calm, non-judgmental approach to multi-agency work, backed by a solid background with local authorities in Kent and Hertfordshire.
